    Hello potential candidates! Thank you for being interested in running for ASUCR. We appreciate your enthusiasm as a potential candidate, and wish you the best of luck! 

    • Candidates many only run for one position. You may NOT switch the position you are running for without permission from the Elections Director PRIOR to the closure of filing. 

    Requirements for filing executive and/or legislative positions:

    1. Those interested in running for executive positions require at least one year of experience in ASUCR, be a full-time student, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (cumulative) at the time of filing. 
    2. Those interested in running for legislative OR executive positions require at least two (2) quarters as a full-time student at UCR and a minimum GPA of 2.5 (cumulative) at the time of filing. 

    **Please read the ASUCR Constitution and Bylaws prior to submitting your application to familiar yourself with the campaigning process, costs, and your desired role.**


    Candidates MUST attend a mandatory workshop hosted by the Elections Committee and at least one ASUCR Senate Meeting. This will provide information on what to expect prior to the elections week, and after being elected. Dates will be provided at the conclusion of the filing period. 

    You MUST be in good standing with UCR Student Conduct, as well as be a full-time student who meets the GPA requirement. Every applicant will have their records requested by the ASUCR Executive Director. The Elections Committee WILL NOT receive any personal record other than what is submitted in this application.   • ASUCR Legislative Positions

  • Candidates may only run for the college they are currently enrolled in. (**Note: All candidates filing for candidacy in the ASUCR Legislative Branch as a Pre-Business student must file as a School of Business senatorial candidate, regardless of their status as a current CHASS student.**)

  • ASUCR Executive Positions

  • Anyone can run regardless of college. However, only candidates with the required three consecutive quarters of ASUCR experience by the time of assuming office shall be eligible to run and take office in the Executive Cabinet.

    The Executive Cabinet shall be defined as President, Executive Vice Presient, and Vice Presidents. The one year requirement does not apply to the Director positions within the Extended Cabinet.

    One year experience shall be defined as serving in an ASUCR capacity (including Executive Cabinet members, Executive Assistants, Interns, Fellows, Directors, Senators, Senate staff members, Judicial Council members, Senate Ex-officio member, student employees and members of any ASUCR subordinate committee) for three continuous academic quarters. A student may also qualify for Vice President of Finance by serving as Accounting Intern/Assistant for ASUCR Accounting Office for the same time frame.

  • MANDATORY FUTURE TASK AND AGREEMENTS FOR ALL CANDIDATES!

  • As a running candidate I understand, acknowledge, and must (but not limited to) in order to run for candidacy I must submit a 150-word maximum biography of the reason why I want to run for candidacy, campaign stance(s), goals in office, and qualifications. Additionally, I must submit a 3-word summarization of what my campaign stance(s) are for. I understand that I need to submit these documents by the required deadline. As a running candidate, I will attend a MANDATORY CANDIDATES WORKSHOP AND ONE ASUCR SENATE MEETING. I have read and comprehend the ASUCR Constitution and the description of my position, as stated in the ASUCR Constitution and Bylaws, and able to summarize the duties of my position.

    *THE DEADLINE DATE FOR THESE DOCUMENTS WILL BE SENT OUT MOMENTARY. PLEASE KEEP A LOOK OUT!*

    As per the Elections Code, you may NOT begin campaigning (verbally, digitally, etc.) until the Elections Committee says otherwise. The Committee has the explicit right to review any and all candidates in order to ascertain that they are qualified for office, and to disqualify any person from candidacy. Failure to comply with this rule and all other rules and regulations set by the Elections Committee will result with consequences up to but not limited to disqualification from candidacy. If the Committee determines that a candidate is not qualified according to these bylaws, the candidate may appeal to the Judicial Branch. The Judicial Branch may overrule the Elections Committee decision of disqualification by a majority vote.
